About this blog

I started it in October 2014 to share my love of the Northern Irish and international Lindy hop and west coast swing scenes and to encourage more folk in and around Belfast to give swing a go. But I am also hoping to tempt some of the global swing family to come visit our wonderful dance community and country!

And if any vintage purists out there are wondering why I have gone for a 1950s theme for my blog despite Lindy hop originating in the 1930-1940s (and contemporary west coast swing not really emerging until the 1970s), it's because I love Rock & Roll music (and the era) above the lot!

About Adam

After trying over 20 different dance styles ranging from Scottish ceilidh to break-dancing I experimented with east coast swing in September 2013 and discovered I'd finally found a way to dance to my beloved rock & roll. It was also to become a gateway drug and by the turn of the year I was fully addicted to Lindy hop and everything swing had to offer, with cravings for west coast swing starting in September 2014.

In January 2015 I was awarded a Frankie Manning Foundation Ambassador Scholarship, proudly becoming only the third European dancer to ever receive the award.

I teach for Swing Belfast, do a bit of graphic design work for swing events by request, and away from dancing I am a postdoctoral researcher in animal behaviour and welfare working with monkeys, hyaenas and domestic animals.
